USA all the way
USA 4- in the medal mix.
Thanks for bumping up my stock. Have now closed out. USA no chance. Grobler wins again.
The GBR four was unbeaten since the 2004 Olympics. But the Dutch and the all Blacks have been slowly creeping up. Then at Lucerne it happened. The GBR had an injury substitute. First NZ in the semis, then NED in the finals beat the vaunted UK four.
Back to their original line-up, the GBR should be 1-3 secs faster, which may be enough. But NED and NZ have them in their sights and seem to be improving too.
On the outside trying to break in is the USA, which has 2 of the 4 men from the Lucerne 2004 boat which beat both the Olympic Gold UK and the Silver CAN (the USA men were in the 8+ at Athens). Others to watch are CZE, IRL, GER and AUS, anyone of whom could put together a medal winning race. Expect some good, hard, close racing in the semis and finals.
